A new home and I’ve been away for far to long!

Well I personally don’t have a new home yet but “It’s all about the Miles” does. I have had this URL for some time but just never seemed to get around to moving this blog from it’s previous home here until now. In fact that kind of ties in to what I wanted to share with this post. Not only has it been awhile since I’ve been on here but also I have been absent from getting at it in regards to my physical fitness.

I let life, some health issues, and a lot of excuses get in the way of my training for nine months and in that time I found 30 pounds that I wasn’t really looking for and that personally I’d rather not have following me around. But at the end of the day I have no one else to blame other than myself. I let myself get back to this point and only I am going to be able to do something to change it.

If you know me or have been following this blog you will know that this isn’t the first time this has happened. This isn’t something I’m really proud of and I know that as I get older it will eventually be something I might not be able to reverse if I continue to stay on this roller coaster. My new goal is now not only to get myself back to a healthy weight and back on track with my overall fitness level but also to prevent this from happening again.

As I am writing this post I am two weeks back into watching my diet, strength training, and running. Although looking good at the beach is a valuable and noble goal in life I am really trying to focus on the long game. What can I do now that will be sustainable and also help me stay active for years to come? With so much of the first half of my life dedicated to my military career I want to make sure my health and fitness will now allow me to enjoy and maximize my time in the second half of my life.

I have found in the past that my ideal goal weight is between 235 lbs and 245 lbs to fit my 6′ 5″ frame. Two weeks ago I weighed in at a depressing 275 lbs. In the last week I have managed to drop that down to 265 lbs but I still have at least 20 lbs to go to reach my goal weight. My workout and cardio routine I previously used was good and I have been using this last two weeks to ease my way back into it. As before I will be using Garmin Connect to log my workouts and weekly weigh ins if you want you connect with me there or on Strava.

As I start logging in the miles and resisting the urge to eat more pizza than a small village I will hopefully get on here a little more regularly. This will be a method of accountability to someone other than myself and also maybe I can help someone else who also struggles with some of the same things. I have a lot of things I plan on doing with this site in the future and I invite you to subscribe so you can be notified with updates and announcements.
